Don’t Be Afraid of Ignorance…Be Afraid of Staying Stupid

Don’t Be Afraid of Ignorance…Be Afraid of Staying Stupid

There’s a harsh word we often avoid, but in this post, I want to bring it to the forefront: stupid.
It’s not a flattering term, but it’s an important distinction to understand.

Stupidity is not the same as ignorance.
Ignorance is simply not knowing. We’ve all been ignorant at one point or another. We’re all born into this world not knowing much, and life is a journey of constant learning. But stupidity…that’s different.

Personally, I hate being called stupid. And here’s why:

Stupidity is not caring to know.
It’s when we deliberately choose to stay in the dark, when we reject truth that challenges us, and when we close ourselves off to correction, wisdom, and revelation.

This kind of willful ignorance is dangerous—and not just in a natural sense, but spiritually.

Ignorance in the Hands of the Enemy Is a Deadly Weapon!

The enemy of our soul doesn’t always need to launch a full-blown attack to destroy us.
Sometimes, he only needs our ignorance.

The Bible warns us clearly in Hosea 4:6:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

It doesn’t say Satan’s people; it says God’s people.

In other words, it’s possible to love God and still perish from a lack of understanding. It possible to love people and want to help them, but without knowledge, how to do this would be futile.

The devil takes advantage of the areas where we are uninformed or indifferent—whether it’s ignorance of Scripture, of spiritual warfare, of God’s voice, or even ignorance of our own inner wounds.

Ignorance creates spiritual blind spots. And blind spots create vulnerability.

Create a Culture of Learning in Your Life

Refuse to be the kind of person who shrugs off growth. Don’t fall into the trap of saying, “That’s just the way I am,” or “I don’t need to know all that.” Those words sound harmless, but they can cost you dearly.

God has given us access to wisdom, discernment, revelation, and understanding through His Spirit, His Word, and His people. The question is: Do we want it?

Do we want to know what’s wrong in our thinking?
Do we want to understand what’s going on beneath the surface?
Do we want to see the areas in our lives where the enemy is subtly gaining ground?

We should.

We must.

Here’s the Call: Stay Teachable

Be a student of the Word.

Be a seeker of truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Surround yourself with people who challenge you spiritually.

Pray for discernment and understanding daily.

Above all, cultivate a heart that wants to know.
Because ignorance is only dangerous when we choose to stay in it.

Final Thought:

Don’t be afraid of being ignorant.
Be afraid of being satisfied with ignorance.
Be afraid of being stubborn in the dark when God has already turned on the light.
